Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade four or above in different subjects including English and Maths. Grade six in Maths is recommended, although individual cases will be discussed. 

Course Overview

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. The A level course is designed to provide a solid foundation to understanding the range of explanations of human behaviour and the research methods. The course develops both specific psychological knowledge and the skills that contribute to the wider understanding of psychological phenomena.

Throughout the course you will look at the explanations of conformity, obedience and resisting social influence, minority influence and the role of social influence in social change. As well as types of memory, stages of attachment and the various studies that look in to the subject in depth.

You will also look at the origins of Psychology, the nervous system, abnormality, and the behaviour approach to phobias as well as mental health and analysing data.

Where will it lead?

You can take it to degree level and go on to become a Clinical, Criminal, Occupational, Educational, Forensic or Legal Psychologist. You could work in hospitals, prisons, schools, and universities or within the Police and criminal system, advertising, the leisure and travel industries, the armed services, social work, insurance, sales, the media, market research and human resources and many more.
